How to Measure For a Ring Sling:
How to Measure for Your Ring Sling
& Finding the Right Size for You
When you shop for a ring sling size, you shop for the desired length of tail.  A tail's desired length is totally up to you......most people want the tail to be at least long enough to cover a sleeping baby or make nursing discreet.  For that purpose, you want the tail to fall no higher than your hip.  If you are worried about the tail being in your way when you don't need it, there are easy ways to wear the sling with the tail "put away."
What size is right for you?
Loop a measuring tape around loosely your torso like a sash, falling just above your hipbone. Pinch the tape to itself between breast and collarbone (where a woman would wear a corsage) and then let tape end fall down to your hip.  Take note of the measurement where you want the sling tail to fall.....you want the tail to fall no shorter than your waistline.  A tail needs to fall mid-thigh if you want to use the tail to protect a baby in the sling or as a cover-up for nursing.

That being said, here's the general idea.  For a ring sling with a tail that falls mid-thigh on a woman:
Size     Sling Length
65"-70"
70"-75"
75"-80"
80"-85"
85"-95"
95"-110"

For a tail that falls along your waistline, order a size down and for a tail that falls to your knee, order a size up.  Keep in mind that a panel with a pocket will give you less area to adjust on a sling with a tail that falls at your waist and if the tail falls too far down your leg, you may not be able to reach the pocket.

Two women, sz 18 and sz 8, wearing the same ring sling.  For the larger woman, the ring sling tail falls between waist and knee.  The tail falls below the knee for the shorter woman.
