Shopping for fabric for slings.
*At least one layer of the fabric you choose will go against a baby's delicate skin, so you want the fabric to feel good if you lightly touch it to your cheek.

*The fabric can have some "stretch" or "give" to it, but not so much that the sling will loose it's shape.

*Keep in mind the climate and where the baby will be worn.  If it's for a winter baby, maybe you want to use a layer of courderoy with a layer of calico, for instance.  If it's for a summer baby, maybe a linen blend lined with a lightweight solid cotton would work well.

Lily, age 2, goes "shopping" with her doll and sling.
When you shop for fabric for a sling, don't base your choice  purely on beauty.  Test it out.....the fabric needs to be well-made, appealing to touch, and look like something you or the person you're shopping for would want to wear.
*If shopping for a 2-layer sling, both fabrics you choose should have the same amount of stretch.

*If you are looking at polyester fleeces, choose no-pill or anit-pill.  The sling will look better longer.

*If you are overwhelmed by choices, shop the clearance land and look for good fabrics that are marked down only because there isn't much left on the bolt.
